Free marriage retreats for National Guard, August 6-8 and September 17-19, at the Hampton Inn in Shoreview. The State Chaplain’s Office and Beyond the Yellow Ribbon have teamed up to offer outstanding marriage retreats. It is a free, educational and practical opportunity to learn what works in marriage and what continues to make marriages last. These are great opportunities to build resiliency in marriages and help with reintegration before or after deployment. National Guard units can help ensure that Guard families and married soldiers know about these events. The weekend retreat can be completed in lieu of a drill weekend. Soldiers interested need to inform their chain of command their intent to participate in the program. Strong Bonds is basic and straight forward, focusing on communication skills. The workshop and material teach couples the skills they need to nurture a lasting love. (See this link for more information.)
